We present an interactive 3D modeling for the Ploiesti – Buzau Highway.
The Ploiesti – Buzau section could be put up for auction for construction in May, according to estimates made by the Minister of Transport, Cătălin Drulă. This section should be completed by 2024, maybe even at the end of 2023. The Ploiești-Buzău highway will thus be the first section of the A7 motorway, put up for auction for construction, after the 16-kilometer section of the A7 was inaugurated last year, part of the Bacau Belt.
The geotechnical investigations for the sections Ploiesti – Buzau and Buzau – Focdani from the Highway (A7) were carried out in proportion of 100%, according to the updated information on the website of the Road Company.
In addition, feasibility studies for these two sections of the highway were also taught. The Ploiesti-Buzau highway will be approximately 63 kilometers long, and about 340 kilometers would have the future high-speed road that will connect the region of Moldova with the south of the country and Bucharest, divided into some lots between Ploiesti, Buzau, Focsani, Bacau and Pascani.
The designers have meanwhile finalized the official route, except for some variants still to be analyzed on the Bacau – Pascani route, and in the next phase, they will decide if the road will be an express or a direct highway.
Currently, on about 338 kilometers, from Ploiesti to Pascani, feasibility studies and technical projects are being developed, meaning four distinct contracts. Recently, the contracted companies completed the first multicriteria analysis and, for three sections, finalized what will be the official route of the high-speed road.
For the Bacau – Pascani section (about 80 km) there are several alternative options. The proposed route variants were designed in correlation with the objectives implemented by the local authorities, by the large network owners, or by other institutions of the Romanian state. For each sector, route variants were analyzed, based on information such as topographic maps, geotechnical maps, boundaries and location of protected natural areas, traffic surveys, preliminary archaeological study and preliminary geotechnical study. The design speed used to design the geometric elements of the route is 140km/h.
For the Ploiesti – Buzau and Bacau – Pascani sectors, 6 route alternatives were analyzed, and for the Buzau – Focsani and Focsani – Bacau sectors, 3 alternatives each. The separation of the route alternatives was made through a quantitative analysis with the application of the following criteria: the technical criterion, the financial criterion, the environmental criterion and the social criterion.
The A7 motorway project is practically the “backbone” of the Moldovan region, which will take over the traffic on the North-South route, where the highest traffic values in the region are registered and which currently takes place on National Road 2, a road with one lane at a time and a slightly wider sidewalk, often used irregularly by drivers, as another lane, which is one of the most dangerous national roads by number of accidents.
On the almost 320 kilometers from Ploiesti to Pascani, the current contracts provide for the feasibility study (which has never been done before), but also for the technical project. Thus, once this documentation is completed, the future builders will only have to execute the works, without completing the project. From Pascani to Suceava and further to Siret, a total of 102 km, tenders were launched for feasibility studies and technical projects – contracts in which a route will be similarly determined and a decision will be made whether the project will be one by express road or highway.
